2009-2010 ASG Scholarship
The St. Louis Chapter of the American Sewing Guild is proud to announce that the $500 2009-2010 scholarship winner is Melissa Kaatman. Melissa will be a senior at Lindenwood University majoring in Fashion Design and Graphic Design. She states that she strives to live by the philosophy of Nelson Henderson, "The true meaning of life is to plant trees under whose shade you do not expect to sit."  Melissa is a full time college student, part time seamstress and part time hair stylist. She carries a 3.0 but, most impressive is the initiative she displays in her current pursuits. She sells some of her creations on Etsy.com and works as a seamstress at Wedding Gallery in St. Charles where she has learned sewing techniques and many of the requirements of running a business. Melissa is making tentative plans to begin her own business in cooperation with Stephanie Koenig, our scholarship winner of 2007-2008. Melissa is a delightful young lady who knows where she is going and how she is going to get there.
